The length of the Estonian coastline is about 3,780 km, of which 1,240 km of the shoreline is continental, and 2,540 km is insular.

This coast contains the large port of Gothenburg, several ship yards, and a large number of fishing villages and yachting marinas. Among the coasts with the lowest percentage of artificial shores are the northern Baltic Archipelago coast (El) with only 3%, the Baltic coastal plain (G) with 5%, and the island of ~land (F) with 4%.
