Single sign-on: In essence, physical resources within a Grid system are distributed in different organizations and managed independently. Each organization has its own security policy. Without single sign-on mechanisms, Grid users have to keep a list of accounts for each machine by themselves. This becomes an obstacle for users to use Grid systems. Hence, we have to take the problem of single sign-on into account when we integrate our system with Computational Grid and UniGrid Portal. Consequently, in our system, we come up with three features with respect to the corresponding requirements.

In Taiwan, a community of educational and research organizations interested in Grid computing technologies founded a Grid computing platform, called Taiwan UniGrid. Taiwan UniGrid consists of three primary portions: Computational Grid, Data Grid, and Web Portal. In this paper, we present the development of a virtual data storage system for Taiwan UniGrid.
