Sound absorption is an important phenomenon as far as sound insulation is concerned. There are different materials available for sound absorption. The sound absorbers may be porous or resonant type. Porous absorbents are classiﬁed as ﬁbrous materials and open-celled foams. Fibrous materials convert acoustic energy into heat energy when sound waves impinge the absorber.
